PISCUL NEGRU

şi-a aşternut culcuş oroarea. O, dulce veşnicie!
Ea te-a urmat atît de-nspăimîntătoare
în palma-i aspră piatra

Cerul asemenea unei flori albastre
nici sufletul,
şi numai spaima m-ajuta
cu delicatele-i corăbii.
Fărîmă oamenii pietroaie
şi umbra lor, aba pe urmă,
îi va urma.
- Căraţi, prieteni,
seara, cu spinarea,
din Piscul negru
lespezile grele.

Piu in alto

Ti buttero giu, e tu butterai me:

Eppur, ecco, crollano, cadono
queste scure cave,
queste fiere cime.
mi mostra i suoi confini.
questi pesanti confini.
Dico arrivederci all'eternita,
e la stessa cosa ripeto all'alba.
Ne il mio corpo era qui,
ne la mia anima
e soltanto la paura mi aiutava
con le sue delicate navi.
Sbriciolano gli uomini le roccie
e la loro ombra, solo poi
l'inseguira.
- Portate, amici,

THE BLACK PEAK

Climb up.
Under you, bigger than its shadow
lays its bed the horror. Oh, sweet eternity!
It has followed you so frightfully
so that looking to the people
you have burst into tears mourning the frail seed at your feet.
Climb up continuously till
in its rugged palm the stone
will hold to you its bowels.
Upper
till your soul through your mouth
will fly like a swallow.
Here finishes any flood:
the human being try its strength against the rock.

I shall knock you down and you will knock me down:
I shall ground you with the wound that spreads its shadow over you,
and you with the laughter that shadows me.

Get me, I have nothing on me:
neither light garments, nor light words,
no girl looks on me.
Yet, here, break down, fall
these dark stone pits,
these proud summits.
I am here like a shadow,
I am here like a point that offer itself to the eternity,
I am here, up, and the weight
rises from down. What can I catch myself of?
The sky like a blue flower
shows me its boundary.
The heights lies on my soul
like a balm on a wound,
but me, with my body,  cannot shake
these weighty confines.
I say farewell to eternity
and the same thing I repeat to the sunrise.
Neither my body was here,
nor my soul
and only the fear helped me
with its delicate ships.
Break the people to peaces the rock
and their shadow only then
will follow them.
- Carry, my friends
at night, on your shoulders,
from the Black Peak
the heavy flagstones.

What do you know about us?
That we have a wild bird that for a while
sang and then was silent? Or what?
Would be the fear? Or the rhythm?
Or a weight inside us and over us
like the doubt that lies in the soul.
