ASCEŢII
Seri reci cu lună ce albă şi rece răsare.
Stele de gheaţă, luceferi ce mor în ceţi matinale.
Şterse-amintiri, bîntuite de foc şi de friguri.
N-o să pierim în flăcări de patimi, noi cei rămaşi atîta singuri.
Pîn-a ciopli şi-a lua chipuri de piatră şi sfinţi,
post greu şi cernit am ţinut, încercat de rele dorinţi.
Greu sîngele noi am silit să doarmă în vine,
sufletul tot am ucis şi-ale lui ispite streine.
Acum pogorît-am în pace, singurătatea e făr-de tristeţi.
Trecutul e mort, viitorul mut şi pustiu pentru triştii asceţi.
De jur împrejur un maredeşert, cît ochii cuprind pîcloasa zare...
Pe socluri de piatră noi stăm, ne biciuiesc vînturi hoinare.

ASCETI
Seri fredde dalla luna che bianca e fredda spunta.
Stelle di ghiaccio, stelle che muoino nelle nebbie di mattino.
Spenti ricordi, infieriti dal fuoco e febbre.
Noi non periremo in fiamme di passione, noi quelli rimasti tanto tempo soli.
Finche abbiamo tagliato volti di pietra e santi,
abbiamo digiunato, tentati da cattivi desideri.
Il pesante sangue abbiamo costretto a dormir nelle vene,
L'animo tutto abbiamo ucciso e le sue tentazioni.
Adesso siamo scesi nella pace, la nostra solitudine non e triste.
il passato e morto, il futuro e muto e deserto per i tristi asceti.
Intorno un gran deserto, quanto il nebbioso orizzonte...
Su basamenti di petra ci sediamo, ci frustano venti randagi.

Cold evenings with a moon that white and cold rises.
Stars of ice, stars that die in foggy mornings.
Until we have cut and took faces of stone and saints,
we had fasted, tempted by wrong desires.
The heavy blood we have forced to sleep in our veins,
the whole soul we have killed and its strange temptations.
Now we are in peace,our loneliness isn't sad.
The past is dead, the future is mute and desert for the hermits.
All around there is a large desert, as large as the misty horizon...
On stony socles we stand, wandering winds whip us.
