VA VENI MOARTEA ŞI VA AVEA OCHII TĂI

Va veni moartea şi va avea ochii tăi -
această moarte ce ne-nsoţeşte
din zori şi pînă-n noapte, insomniacă,
surdă, ca o veche remuşcare
sau ca o patimă fără noimă. Ochii tăi
un strigăt mut, o  tăcere.
Aşa ţi-i vezi în fiece dimineaţă
cînd de tine însuţi te-ndoieşti
în oglindă. O, scumpă nădejde,
în ziua aceea  şti-vom şi noi
că eşti viaţa şi eşti nimicnicia.

Pentru toţi viaţa arte o privire.
Va veni moartea şi va avea ochii tăi.
ASsta va fi ca şi cum te-ai lepăda de-o patimă
ca şi cum ai vedea într-o oglindă
ivindu-se un chip de mort
ca şi cum ai asculta buze ferecate.
Vom coborî muţi în abis.

VERRA LA MORTE E AVRA I TUOI OCCHI

Verra la morte e avra i tuoi occhi -
questa morte che ci accompagna
dal mattino alla sera, insonne,
sorda, come un vecchi rimorso
o un vizio assurdo. I tuoi occhi
saranno una vana parola,
un grido taciuto, ubn silenzio.
Cosi li vedi ogni mattina
quando su te sola ti pieghi
nello specchio. O, cara speranza,
quel giorno sapremo anche noi
che sei la vita e sei il nulla.

Per tutti la morte ha uno sguardo.
Verra la morte e avra i tuoi occhi.
Sara comew smettere un vizio,
come vedere nello specchio
rimergere  un viso morto,
come ascoltare un labbro chiuso.
Scenderemo nel gorgo muti.



WILL COME THE DEATH AND WILL HAVE YOUR EYES

Will come the death and will have your eyes
this death which accompany us
from  morning to evening, sleepless,
deaf, like an old remorse,
or an irrational passion. Your eyes
will be a vain word,
a silent shout, a silence.
So you see them every morning
when you bend over yourself
in the mirror. O, dear hope,
that day we shall know too
that you are the life and the nothingness.

For all of us the death has a look.
Will come the death and will have your eyes.
It will be like leaving a passion,
like seeing in the mirror
appearing a dead face,
like listening to silent lips.
We shall get down in the abyss dumb.
