LUMINĂ DIN LUMINĂ

Priveşte-i faţa. Priveşte cum totul se schimbă.
Ea există-n azurul cerului şi-n nămolul de la Dachau,
licăreşte în roata istoriei.
Ploile se scurg pe obraji. În verdeaţă.
Ea rămîne şi după ce totul s-a dus.
O poartă săracii şi muţii, leproşii.
E-n muntele îndepărtat. În proaspăta iarbă.
O privire vie răzbate prin ţepene măşti.
E şi-n pustie. E-n zarva oraşelor.
În grupul de oameni înspăimîntaţi risipindu-se brusc în toate părţile.
Se află-n furtună şi-n izvorul cristalin,
prin pomii înfloriţi care spumegă de-atîta lumină.
Nu pot să mai întorc adevărului spatele.
E în zăbrelele clipei şi-n constelaţia veciei.
Pe zidurile negrilor. Pe aspra năframă a Veronicăi.
O văd torturată, înjosită, distrusă.
O umbră pe nisip. Chiar şi eu calc pe ea.
Ea se află între penele păsării. În lanterna copilului.
Ea nu îmbătrîneşte. O, duritate. O, blîndeţe.

Faţa în beznă, flacără în beznă.
Exist înaintea acestei priviri.




LIGHT OF THE LIGHT

Look at his face. Look as everything is changing.

On the nigros' walls. On Veronica's rough handkerchief.
I see it tortured, humiliated, destroyed.
It lies among the feathers of the birds. In the flashlight of a child.
It is not aging. Oh, hardness. Oh, goodness.

A face in the dark, a flame in the dark.
