PLECAREA FIICELOR

Desigur, trebuiau să plece, văzusem asta
pe feţele lor schimbîndu-se încet
din feţe de copii în feţele unor prieteni
din feţele de-altă dată în cele de-acum.

Simţisem, şi nările mă învăţaseră asta cînd ele mă sărutau,
pielea ş părul lor mă uitaseră,
nu ca odinioară,
cînd mai eram stăpîni peste timp.

În casa noastră crescuse o lume de dor,
fericire, durere, tristeţi, în
odăile lor, acolo strîngeau ce-aveau
să ia la plecare, amintirile.

Acum, ele s-au dus, iar eu mă uit pe ferestrele lor:
întocmai aceeaşi privelişte, întocmai
aceeaşi lume de-acum douăzeci de ani,
cînd viaţa-mi de-aici abia începea.

LA PARTITA DELLE FIGLIE

Certamente, dovevano partire, avevo visto questo
sui loro visi cambiando lentamente
dai visi di bambine in visi di amiche
dai visi di una volta nei visi d'oggi.

Avevo sentito, e le narici mi avevano insegnato quando loro mi baciavano,
la loro pelle ed i loro capelli mi avevano dimenticato,
non come una volta,
quando eravamo padroni del tempo.

Nella nostra casa aveva cresciuto un mondo di desideri,
felicita, dolore, malinconie, nelle
loro stanze radunavano quello che avevano
da prendere alla partenza, i ricordi.

Adesso loro sono partite e io guardo le loro finestre:
proprio la stessa vista, proprio
il stesso mondo di vent'anni fa,
quando la mia vita qui cominciava.



THE DEPARTURE OF THE DAUGHTERS

Certainly, they had to go, I  had seen it
on their faces turning slowly
from chldish faces into friendly faces
from the faces of once into the faces of now.

I had felt, and my nostrils had tought me when they kissed me,
their skin and hair had forgotten me,
not as once,
when we were masters of the time.

In our house had grown a world if desires,
happiness, pain, sadness, in
their rooms  they were gathering the things
they wanted to take leaving, the memories.

Now they have gone, and I look through their windows:
just the same sight, just
the same world of twenty years ago,
when my life here begane.
