PIETRE

El are buzunarele pline cu pietre. Le-a adunat

Nu-i vede tremurîndele-i nări
Adulmecând furnicarul din piaţă. El îţi grăbeşte pasul
Şi simte că poate să mai reziste,
Deşi plămînii nu-i sunt decît o mare rană deschisă.

STONES

Every evening he feel that he had to resist,
Every moning, before awakening, he feels that he can't anymore.
In spite of that, he dresses himself, leaves and feels stronger
While the snow falls : he breathes slowly
And tells himself : " You must be sly :
The air make you tipsy easily ".

The people swarm in the streets.
He has his pockets full of stones. He has gathered them
From the parks before the frost coming.
He feels that now he can. In his large coat
His hands, thrusted in the pockets hardly are seen.
His shoes are broken, hardly stay on his feet.

His thin hat is the only spot of green that has remained
Arround his neck, in the rusty cough of the winte ; his finger
Have frozen and he don't feel the stones as objects anymore,
But as means. In the park walks a solitary horse.
He doesn't see its trembling nostrils
Scenting the crowd in the market. He hurry up his steps
And feels that he yet can resist,
Although his langs are a big open wound.
There, at the stormy crossroad he feels that he can yet resist.

When he fell, he had a stone in both his hands
But he was feeling that he can resist
Without knowing why he has to resist -
He doesn't remember what anger had lead him his entire life.
The stones don't help him
To remember. And why particularly the stones ?
