IARĂŞI ŞI IAR

Iarăşi şi iar, chiar de cunoaştem priveliştea dragostei,
Şi cimitirul cel mic cu inscripţiile lui tînguitoare,
Şi îngrozitor de tăcutul abis unde sfârşesc
Ceilalţi : iarăşi şi iar, noi pornim cîte doi împreună,
Sub copacii bătrâni, iarăşi şi iar, ne întindem
Alături în mijlocul florilor, cu faţa la cer.



AGAIN AND AGAIN

Again and again, as if we know the sight of love,
And the little cemetery with its wailing inscriptions,
And the terribly silent abyss where the othes
end : again and again, we walk in pairs toghether,
Under the ancient trees, again and again, we lie
Close in the middle of the flower, on our back.
